The Blink Indoor Camera is among the top battery-powered indoor security cameras, and it's designed to provide reliable and convenient security monitoring for your space. Developed by Blink, an Amazon-owned company, its wireless design eliminates the need for wiring and enables flexible placement throughout your home. With features such as high-definition video quality, motion detection, infrared night vision, two-way audio communication, customizable motion zones, and seamless integration with the Blink Home Monitor app and Amazon Alexa, the Blink Indoor Camera empowers users to keep a watchful eye on their living spaces with ease.
The cornerstone of any effective security camera is its video quality. The Blink Indoor Camera is equipped with a 1080p HD video resolution, which delivers a crisp and clear picture. Backed by infrared night vision and a 110-degree viewing angle, this camera ensures that every detail is captured, day or night. Whether it's monitoring a living room, nursery, or entryway, you'll be able to discern faces, objects, and actions with remarkable precision.
The motion detection capability of the Blink Indoor Camera hinges on its Passive Infrared (PIR) sensor, which diligently scans for temperature changes to identify movement within its range. While it lacks advanced AI features, the camera compensates with customizable motion zones, enabling users to define specific areas of interest and minimize false alerts. This practical approach ensures efficient monitoring and timely notifications, making the Blink Indoor Camera a vigilant guardian for your space.
The Blink Indoor Camera comes equipped with night vision capabilities that allow it to keep a watchful eye on your surroundings even when it's dark. Using infrared technology, the camera can see in low-light conditions, ensuring that you still get clear and detailed visuals during the night. Whether you're checking in on your home's security or making sure everything is okay in dimly lit areas, the Blink Indoor Camera's night vision ensures that you're never left in the dark when it comes to monitoring your indoor spaces.
The Blink Indoor Camera's two-way audio feature lets you have live conversations through the camera using its built-in microphone and speaker. This means you can talk and listen remotely, just like using a walkie-talkie. Whether you want to chat with someone at your door, calm your pet, or check in on your family, the two-way audio adds an extra layer of interaction and convenience to your home surveillance. It's like having a virtual presence in the room, allowing you to communicate and respond to situations in real-time, all from your phone.
All four Blink cameras can use local storage via the Blink Sync Module 2. The Sync Module comes in the box with the Blink Outdoor and Blink Indoor.
To enable local storage, simply connect a USB flash drive, with support for up to 256 GB, to your camera. The Blink app may prompt you to format the drive. Once the formatting is complete, your USB drive is ready to securely store your video clips.
Blink offers subscription-based cloud storage for the Blink indoor camera. If you have a Blink Subscription Plan or have a free trial, you can safely store video clips and Live View sessions on Blink's cloud servers. These clips can be seen in the Blink app. The subscription works for all Blink cameras, but newer features are only for the latest devices.
You can buy a Blink subscription whenever you want and cancel it whenever you choose. If you decide to cancel, you can either end your plan on the renewal date or earlier. When you cancel, your subscription will stop right away, and you'll get a refund for the time you didn't use it. Your video clips will remain visible in the Blink Home Monitor app until you delete them manually or until they're automatically removed after a set period (60 days in the US, 30 days in the EU/UK). Plus, with a Blink Subscription plan, you get unlimited cloud video recording.
The Blink Home Monitor app allows you to remotely monitor and manage your security cameras and systems from your smartphones or tablets. With the Blink Home Monitor App, users can:
Live view: View real-time video streams from their Blink cameras, enabling them to see what's happening at home at any moment.
Customizable motion alerts: Receive instant notifications on their mobile devices when the Blink cameras detect motion or activity.
Two-way audio: See, hear, and speak with people near the cameras through built-in microphones and speakers, allowing for interactive conversations.
Video Clips: Access and review recorded video clips of motion events captured by the cameras.
Arming and disarming: Arm and disarm their Blink security system remotely to monitor their home's security status.
Scheduling: Set schedules for when their cameras are active or inactive, depending on their preferences.
Geofencing: Utilize geofencing technology to automatically arm or disarm their Blink system based on their location.
Cloud storage: If subscribed to a Blink Subscription Plan, users can store motion clips in the cloud, ensuring data is securely stored and accessible even if the camera is offline.
Camera settings: Adjust camera settings, such as video quality, motion sensitivity, and more, to tailor the monitoring experience to their needs.
Device management: Add and manage multiple Blink cameras and systems within the app.
Blink's 3rd Generation Outdoor and Indoor cameras seamlessly work with supported Alexa-enabled devices including Echo, Echo Dot, Echo Show, Echo Spot, Fire TV, and Fire Tablet. These integrations offer functionalities like enabling or disabling the cameras, initiating live streams, playing the most recent motion clip, and potentially using Alexa Guard for sound detection to trigger camera recording, as well as motion announcements directly from your Alexa device.
The Outdoor and Indoor cameras do not initially support Apple HomeKit or Google Assistant, but the company is actively exploring possibilities for integrating with these platforms in the future.
Camera placement:
Choose an optimal location for your camera, considering the area you want to monitor.
Ensure the camera is within range of your Wi-Fi signal and has a clear view of the target area.
Powering the camera:
Remove the back cover and insert the two AA lithium batteries. These batteries can last up to two years, depending on usage.
Blink Home Monitor App Setup:
Open the Blink Home Monitor App on your mobile device.
Create a Blink account or log in if you already have one.
Sync Module:
Scan the QR code on the back of the Sync Module or enter your Sync Module's serial number manually.
Once the serial number is recognized, you'll be asked to make a new camera system. Just tap the text box and give your system a unique name. Make sure it's different from any other system names you have in your Blink account if you have more than one. Once you've entered the new system name, tap Continue.
To connect to your network, the Blink app uses your mobile device to link up with the Sync Module's temporary Wi-Fi network. It's called “BLINK-_ _," where the last 4 digits come from your Sync Module's serial number. Just tap "Join."
After you've successfully joined, you'll be asked to connect to your regular Wi-Fi network. Type in your Wi-Fi password and tap "Join." On the "Add Sync Module" screen, you'll see a list of nearby 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi networks. If you don't see your Wi-Fi, tap "Refresh List" at the bottom. The Sync Module remembers network info for devices added to its system. For help with Wi-Fi issues, you can check troubleshooting tips.
When your Sync Module is added to your new system, a screen will pop up saying you're done. Tap "Done" to finish. Now, you're ready to add your new camera.
You'll spot the new system name at the top of your Home screen, along with the Sync Module. If you see a cloud icon and a green line, it means the Sync Module is talking nicely to the Blink servers.
Adding One Blink Indoor Camera:
From the home screen, tap the "+ Add Device" button.
You'll see a list of devices you can add to your system on the "Add Device" screen. Choose your device to continue setting it up.
Now, you'll be on the "Scan QR Code" screen. Use your phone's camera to scan the QR code. If asked, let the Blink app use your camera, but it's only for this scanning step.
If you can't or don't want to use your camera, tap "Enter Serial Manually." You'll need to type in the DSN (Device Serial Number). If you're not sure where to find it, there's a guide to help.
When your serial number is accepted, setup begins. You'll get a "Camera Added" screen with tips for placing your camera. Once everything's set up, a notification will pop up, and you can tap "Done."
